3 Awesome Ideas for an Indoor Camping Party

When it comes to an indoor camping party, I always tell people there are two kinds of people from the South: the ones that love the outdoors and the ones that will do anything to avoid it.

My hatred of the outdoors got pretty firmly planted after my dad took my mom and me on a hike that “wasn’t too long.” Maybe ten miles in a less humid state isn’t that long but ten miles in South Carolina during the summer? Let’s just say there’s a picture of young me glaring at the camera during it.

I’ll be honest here. It has gotten too cold in parts of the country to camp outside anymore. Maybe it’s too cold for you or the weather’s unpredictable. Maybe you’re like me where you hate the outdoors.

Keep reading and we’ll talk about all the ways to make an indoor camping party fun so you can not leave your house!

3 Ideas for an Indoor Camping Party with Kids

1. Sleep in a Tent during an Indoor Camping Party

Buy or borrow tents! Clean it beforehand if you’re borrowing them. You can also find more tips about romantic indoor camping activities.

If your kids are older, a bigger tent would be a good idea. If your kids are younger, a bigger tent is still a good idea because of how much they squirm.

You can also let them share tents (although I don’t recommend it) or, if they’re little enough for those small character tents, let them use one of those each.

Make sure you bring in a flashlight and keep a quick line to the bathroom. Fill them with sleeping bags, pillows, and other comfortable items. Your kid’s favorite stuffed animals may enjoy the new adventure too.

2. Bring in Books for Indoor Camping Party

I’ve been a reader for a long time. I was the kid who got in trouble for reading during class instead of paying attention. If your kids love to read or you’re trying to instill a love for it, keep reading.

This is a great time to either order and pick up books at your local library or go into your library and pick out some favorites. This depends on your area’s pandemic policies.

Another option is to go to your local bookstore and find the cheaper kid’s books on sale. Most places let you order them online and pick them up or let you call and place an order to pick them up. You can always donate them when you’re done!

Research shows that reading builds a solid parent-child relationship as well.

If you want to make it even more fun, have your kids pick out their own books and you pick one out too. That way you’re guaranteed to have a book everyone will like and you get to read one you’ll enjoy too.

3. Print out Printables for an Indoor Camping Party!

Grab your colored pencils. crayons, and markers, and ready your printer! Your kids (and you yourself) may enjoy coloring and doing other activities. Just make sure you have enough printer ink!
